A Fluffy, Sweet Gem Of A Novella

Between Then and Now by Zoe York

Dear Reader,

Today is the perfect day to talk about some heart-melting, low-stress fluff (because every day is the perfect day to…). Although I’m incredibly fond of 99% of the *50+ CanLit Romance novels I’ve read, the winding journey to true love can be a bit overwhelming.

Between Then and Now by Zoe York is a fluffy, sweet gem of a novella. Weighing in at around 17,000 words, you can notify your responsibilities that you’re off the clock for a short hour and read the whole thing cover-to-cover. Right now my headspace is cluttered, the world is loud, and I’m having difficulty focusing. As soon as I thought about this book, I opened up a new file, typed out the title, abandoned my computer and promptly curled up in bed with my Kobo for a reread.

I love this story because the fluffy is balanced with just enough intensity to make for a satisfying love story despite the petite packaging. Carrie and Ian’s 8-year marriage is cracking under the combined weight of highly relatable challenges: kids, money, side hustles, jammed schedules, and personal identity crises. Carrie is all of us when she asks Ian, “Did it all used to be easier?”

It’s uplifting, I promise! If you’re living your life balanced on an emotional tightrope, Between Then and Now is going to inspire you to hold tight to the fact that love is worth fighting for: romantic love, familial love, platonic love, and love for yourself. It’s also going to inspire you to keep a glass of ice water handy. Ahem. Very blushy, as my romance reading book club likes to say. And so much swooning. Oh, the swooning…I may need another reread right now!

Love!

P.S. *Speaking of 50+, here I’m referring to the number of books I’ve read, but…can I get a CanLit Romance silver fox on this list, please? Post recommendations in the comments or contact me on social!
